Terms of Use

Section 1 (Purpose)
The purpose of these Terms of Use is to set out the rights, duties, and responsibilities of the Company and Members, and other terms and conditions in connection with the services rendered by the Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”).

Section 2 (Definitions)
The terms used herein have the following meanings:

①“Services” mean the services rendered in connection with the Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences accessible to “Members,” regardless of the type of device (including cable and mobile devices such as PC, TV, and portable devices).
②“Members” mean customers who access the “Services,” enter into the Terms of Use with the “Company” and use the “Services” provided by the “Company.”
③“ID” means any combination of alphabetic letters and numbers assigned by a “Member” and approved by the “Company” to identify the Member and allow the use of the Services.
④“Password” means any combination of alphabetic letters and numbers assigned by a “Member” to determine whether it matches the user ID and protect the privacy of the Member.
⑤“Paid Services” mean all sorts of online content (information, VOD, items, and other paid content) and services provided by the Company for which a fee is charged.
⑥“Points” mean virtual data on the “Services” like miles without any proprietary value arbitrarily determined or offered, modified by the Company to ensure efficient use of the Services.
⑦“Posts” mean texts, pictures, videos, files, and links containing symbols, characters, voices, sounds, images, and moving images that “Members” have posted on the “Services” to use the Services.

Section 3 (Posting of and Revisions to the Terms of Use)
① The Company shall post these Terms of Use on the home page of the website to make it easy for “Members” to find them.
②The Company may revise these Terms of Use as long as the revised terms do not violate the applicable laws, such as the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (the “Information and Communications Network Act”).
③ The Company shall make known the effective date of and the reason for an amendment to these Terms in the manner described in (1), starting 30 days prior to the said date until the day before. However, any changes that adversely affect Members shall be clearly notified in electronic form, such as E-mails, messages, and pop-up alerts when Members log in for a certain period of time, in addition to regular notices.
④ The revised Terms shall be deemed to have been accepted by Members unless explicitly rejected within 30 days after Members have been notified that the changes would be deemed to have been accepted unless explicitly stated otherwise.
⑤ The Company may not apply the revised Terms unless Members agree to the changes, in which case Members may terminate the Terms. However, in extraordinary circumstances where the existing Terms cannot be applied, the Company may terminate the Terms.

Section 4 (Interpretation of the Terms)
① The Company may have separate Terms of Use and Privacy Policies for “Paid Services” and other separate services (“Terms of Use for Paid Services”) and the Terms of Use for Paid Services shall prevail if they are in conflict with these Terms of Use.
② Matters or interpretations not stated herein shall be subject to the Terms of Use for Paid Services, applicable laws or customary business practice.

Section 5 (Conclusion of the Terms)
① The Terms of Use shall be concluded after a person who wishes to become a Member (“Applicant”) agrees to the Terms and register and the Company approves the registration.
② The Company shall approve the use of the Services by an Applicant, provided, however, that the Company may refuse to approve the registration or terminate the Terms if:
1. The Applicant has lost membership before under these Terms of Use, except in the event that the person lost the membership over one (1) year ago and has been permitted by the Company to re-register;
2.The name provided by the Applicant is not a real name or that of someone else;
3. The Applicant has provided false information or failed to provide information as required by the Company;
4. The Applicant is 14 years of age or younger without the consent of their legal guardian (i.e., parent)
5. The registration cannot be approved due to the reasons caused by the user or the Applicant is in violation of any of the provisions hereof.
③ The Company may request an outside expert to verify the identification of an Application or request the Applicant to identify him- or herself, depending on the type of Member.
④ The Company may postpone approving the registration if there is no related equipment available or due to technical or business problems.
⑤ The Company shall notify the Applicant if it has not approved, or postponed approving, the registration as described in (2) and (4).
⑥ The Terms of Use shall be concluded at a time when the Company has approved the registration.
⑦ The Company may assign different levels to Members according to the time of use, frequency, or service menu under its policy.
⑧ The Company may restrict access or assign different access levels to comply with the Promotion of the Motion Pictures and Video Products Act and the Juvenile Protection Act.

Section 6 (Changing Settings)
①Members can view and edit their settings whenever they want on the Edit Settings page. However, they may not edit their real name, resident registration number, and user ID that are needed for service management.
② Members shall make changes to the information they provided during registration online or notify the Company of the changes by E-mail.
③ The Company is not responsible for any loss or damage arising from a user’s failure to inform the Company of the changes made as described in (2).

Section 7 (Privacy Obligations)
The Company uses its best efforts to respect and protect the privacy of Members in accordance with applicable laws, such as the "Information and Communications Network Act." Protection and use of personal information shall be subject to the applicable laws and the Privacy Policy of the Company; provided, however, that the Company’s Privacy Policy does not apply to any linked sites other than the official website of the Company.

Section 8 (Member’s Obligations Regarding User ID and Password)
① Members are responsible for the management of their User ID and Password and shall not allow a third party to use their ID or password.
② The Company may restrict access by a user ID if the ID is at risk of leaking personal information, offends against public order or decency, or is liked to be mistaken for the Company or the administrator of the Company.
③Members shall immediately notify the Company and follow the Company’s instructions upon becoming aware of identify theft or unauthorized use of their ID or Password by a third party.
④ The Company is not responsible for any loss or damage arising from the Member’s failure to inform the Company of the theft or unauthorized use as referred to in (3) or failure to follow the Company’s instructions.

Section 9 (Notices to Members)
① The Company shall send Members notices to the E-mail address or via message unless otherwise stated herein.
② The Company may substitute a notice to all Members by posing it on the bulletin board of the Company for at least seven (7) days.

Section 10 (Duties of the Company)
① The Company shall not violate applicable laws, these Terms of Use, or the public standards of decencyand use its best efforts to provide the Services uninterrupted.
② The Company shall have a security system for protecting the personal information (including credit information) for Members to safely use the Services, make posts, and comply with the Privacy Policy.
③ The Company shall handle any comment or complaint raised by a Member in connection with the use of the Services if it is deemed legitimate. The procedure and results of handling the comment or complaint raised by the Member shall be notified on the bulletin board or by E-mail.

Section 11 (Duties of the Member)
① Members shall not:
1. Provide false information while registering or editing privacy settings;
2. Use the information of other people without their consent;
3. Make changes to the information posted by the Company;
4. Send or upload information other than the types of information defined by the Company (computer software);
5. Infringe the intellectual property of the Company or a third party;
6. Harm the reputation of the Company or a third party or disrupt their business;
7. Upload or post on the Services any explicit or violent message, image, voice, or consent that offends against public order or decency;
8. Use the Services for the purpose of making profits without the consent of the Company;
9. Commit other illegal or illegitimate acts.
② Members shall comply with applicable laws, these Terms of Use, user information and other important information notified by the Company in connection with the Services, and shall not commit any acts that disrupt the Company’s business.

Section 12 (Provision of the Services)
① The Company provides Members with the following Services:
1. Search service
2. Open source service (blogs, forums, etc.)
3. Bulletin board service (Jisik iN, message board, etc.)
4. E-mail service
5. Security patch, vaccine service
6. Other services developed by the Company or provided to Members through partnerships with other companies.
② The Company may divide the Services into certain ranges and assign different hours of service to the ranges, provided that such service ranges and hours are notified to Members in advance.
③ The Services shall be available all year round, 24 hours a day.
④ The Company may suspend the Services temporarily for the maintenance and repairs of information and communications equipment such as computers, replacements or failures, disconnections or substantial problems with the operation. In such cases, the Company shall notify Members in the manner described in Section 9 [Notices to Members]. However, the Company may notify after the suspension due to unavoidable reasons.
⑤ The Company may perform routine checks if they are required to provide the Services and the hours of routine checks shall be in accordance with the Services page.

Section 13 (Changes to the Services)
① The Company may change the Services, in whole or in part, as required for operational or technical reasons.
② The Company shall post on the page of the Service in question the reason for change, the details of the changes, and the effective date if any changes are to be made to the said Service, how to use, and the hours of service, at least seven (7) days prior to the changes.
③ The Company may modify, suspend, or change the Services provided for free, in whole or in part, as required by the Company’s policy or due to operational reasons, and may not provide the Members with compensation unless otherwise stated by applicable law.

Section 14 (Provision of Information and Posting of Advertisements)
① The Company may provide Members with a variety of information deemed necessary for Members to use the Services by including it in a notice or E-mail message. However, Members may always reject unwanted E-mail messages excluding information related to transactions under applicable law or response to customer inquiries.
② The information referred to in (1) may be sent by telephone or fax with the Member’s prior consent, except information related to the Member’s transactions or response to customer inquiries.
③ The Company may post advertisements on each Service page, the website, and in E-mail messages in connection with the operation of the Services. Members may reject unwanted E-mail messages containing such advertisements from the Company.

Section 15 (Copyright to Posts)
① The copyright to Posts made by Members while using the Services shall belong to the author of the Post.
②Posts posted on any Service by Members may be exposed to search results, the Service, or related promotions, and may be partially modified, reproduced, or edited to the extent necessary to allow such exposure. In such cases, the Company shall comply with the provisions of the Copyright Act and Members may delete the Posts, exclude them from search results, or make them invisible using the Customer Center or the Admin function of the Service.
③ The Company shall obtain the consent of a Member by phone, fax, or E-mail to use the Post created by the Member in any other manner than the one described in (2).

Section 16 (Management of Posts)
① If the content of any Post by a Member breaches the Information and Communications Network Act and the Copyright Act, the copyright holder may request the Post to be deleted and removed from the Services, and the Company shall take action in accordance with the applicable laws.
② The Company may take temporary measures regarding the Post under applicable law if it consistutes a reason for copyright infringement or violates the Company’s policy or applicable law, even if it has not been requested by the author.
③ Detailed procedures shall be in accordance with the Suspension Request Service provided by the Company to the extent permited by the Information and Communications Network Act and the Copyright Act.

Section 17 (Ownership and Rights)
① The copyrights and intellectual property of the Services belong to the Company, except the Posts created by Members and the copyrighted works produced under partnership agreements.
② The Company shall only grant Members the rights to use an account, User ID, content, and Points related to the Services under the Company’s terms and conditions of use, and Members shall not assign, sell, encumber or otherwise transfer those rights.

Section 18 (Points)
The Company may adjust Points in part or in whole to ensure efficient use and operation of the Services after sending a notice in advance, and the Points may become invalid on a regular basis, according to the period set by the Company.

Section 19 (Termination and Cancellation)
① Members may request termination of the Terms of Use through the Customer Center on the Service home page or using the My Page menu, and the Company shall immediately process the request.
② Upon termination of these Terms by a Member, all of the Member’s data will be deleted unless the Company holds the Member’s information under applicable law and the Privacy Policy.
③ Upon termination of these Terms by a Member, all of the Posts filed under the Member’s account such as E-mails and blogs will be deleted. However, since the Posts re-blogged or reposted or uploaded on a public message board will not be deleted, Members shall delete such posts before deleting their account.

Section 20 (Restriction of Access)
① The Company may restrict access to the Services at different levels, through a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent suspension, if Members fail to perform their obligations hereunder or disrupt the operation of the Services.
②Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Company may immediately suspend an account permanently in case of identity theft in violation of the Resident Registration Act, the provision of illegal software or service disruption in violation of the Copyright Act and the Computer Software Protection Act, illegal activity, hacking, or the spread of malicious software in violation of the "Information and Communications Network Act," or other violations of applicable laws, such as exceeding authorized access. Permanent suspension will result in the removal of “Points” and other benefits that the Member in question has earned through the use of the Services, for which the Company will not provide compensation.
③ The Company may restrict access if a Member has not logged in for over three (3) months to ensure privacy protection and the efficiency of service operation.
④ The Company shall comply with the Access Restriction Policy and policies for separate services regarding the conditions of restrictions and details within the limits of access restriction as described in this Section.
⑤The Company shall notify restrictions on access to the Services or terminate the Terms in accordance with Section 9 [Notices to Members].
⑥ Members may appeal the decision to restrict access according to the process defined by the Company. The Company shall immediately resume the Services only if the appeal is deemed legitimate by the Company.

Section 21 (Disclaimer)
① The Company will be relieved of the responsibility of providing the Services if such non-fulfillment resulted from Force Majeure circumstances.
② The Company is not responsible for any errors of the Services if the errors resulted from the misuse of Members.
③ The Company is not responsible for the information, data, trustworthiness or accuracy of facts that Members posted in connection with the Services.
④ The Company is not responsible or liable for any loss or damage arising from a transaction between Members, or between a Member and a third party by means of the Services.
⑤ The Company is not responsible for the use of Services provided for free unless otherwise prescribed by applicable law.

Section 22 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)
① All disputes arising between the Company and Members shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
② All procedures regarding disputes arising between the Company and Members shall be brought before a competent course in accordance with the Civil Procedure Act.

①These Terms are effective on March 22, 2010.

The Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (hereinafter referred to the “Company”) respects the privacy of customers and complies with the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
The Company lets you know how and for what purposes personal information you provide with us is used, the steps that it takes to protect your personal information.
The Company will post additional notices (or separate notices) if any changes are made to the Privacy Policy.

ο This Policy is effective on March 22, 2010.

The Company collects the following personal information for registration, consulting, and service request purposes:

■ Purposes of Collecting and Using Personal Information

The Company collects and uses personal information for the following purposes:

 ο To perform its obligations under the Terms of Use and provide fee collection content for the services rendered.

 ο Membership management

To ensure the self-identification of a user of the membership service, prevent illegal and unauthorized use, check a user’s intention to register, and deliver notices.

 ο Used for marketing and advertising purposes

To deliver advertising information, such as events.

■ Retention and Use Period for Personal Information

The Company disposes of all personal information once the purpose for which it was collected and used has been fulfilled.

■ Procedure and Method for the Disposal of Personal Information

The Company disposes of all personal information once the purpose for which it was collected and used has been fulfilled.

Disposal shall be carried out in accordance with the following procedure and method:

ο Disposal Procedure

The information you have provided to register will be transferred to a separate database (a separate storage box if in paper form) and stored for a period of time (see Retention and Use Period) for the purposes of the Privacy Policy or in accordance with applicable laws before being disposed of.
The information transferred to the database will not be used for any other purpose than the ones stated above unless required by law.

ο Disposal Method

   - Personal information stored in electronic form shall be deleted using the technology that prevents recovery of deleted records.

■ Disclosure of Personal Information

The Company does not disclose any personal information to a third party, except in the following cases:

- If users have consented to the disclosure of their information in advance;
- If such disclosure is required by law or for the purposes of conducting an investigation in accordance with applicable law.

■ Sharing of Collected Personal Information

The Company does not share with a third party your personal information without your consent. Should the need arise, the Company will provide you with the name of the third party and transaction details before obtaining your consent.

■ The Rights of Users and Legal Guardians and How to Exercise Them

Users and their legal guardians may view or edit the privacy settings of their own or minors under 14 years of age registered with the Company, or may request termination of membership.
For the user or minor under 14 years of age, click “Edit Privacy Settings” (or Edit Account Settings) to view or edit their privacy settings, and click “Delete My Account” to view, change, or delete the account (Withdrawal of Consent) after the self-identification process. Or contact the Chief Privacy Officer in writing or by phone or E-mail, and the Officer will promptly process the request.

If you have requested an error in your information to be corrected, the Company will not use or provide the information during the year until the correction has been completed. Furthermore, if false information has been already provided to a third party, the correction results will be promptly notified to the party.

OO makes sure that the personal information deleted at the request of a user or their legal guardian is handled according to the terms stated in the “Retention and Use Period for Personal Information Collected by OO” so that it cannot be accessed for any other purpose.

■ Installation, Operation, and Rejection of Automatic Personal Information Collection System

The Company uses cookies to store and find your information. Cookies are small text files that the server used to operate the website of OO sends to your browser and are stored on the hard disk of your computer. The Company uses cookies for the following purposes:

▶ Purposes of Using Cookies
 - To provide target marketing and personalized services by analyzing the access frequency and hours of Members and Non-Members, identifying a user’s preferences and interests and tracking the user’s activity, and identifying their participation in events and frequency of visits.

You can choose to either enable or disable cookies. By clicking Options and choosing your preferred settings in your browser, you can allow cookies, check whenever a cookie is stored, or block cookies altogether.

▶ How to Disable Cookies
Example: To disable cookies, you can choose whether to accept all cookies, check whenever a cookie is stored, or reject cookies altogether using the Internet Options in your web browser.
