As we welcome 2026, I extend my sincere wishes for health and happiness to you and your families.

Our fisheries sector continues to face significant challenges—from climate change and shifting marine environments to uncertainties in global trade. Despite these difficulties, your dedication and expertise have greatly contributed to strengthening the sustainability of Korea’s fisheries. I express my deep gratitude for your efforts.

In 2026, the Society will focus on three key priorities:

1. Expanding the Society’s role in future fisheries science
We will broaden academic programs in emerging fields and reinforce our function as a knowledge hub supporting policy and industry innovation.

2. Strengthening international collaboration
KOSFAS will deepen partnerships with fisheries science organizations in Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Taiwan, and other regions, enhancing our global engagement and leadership.

3. Supporting young researchers and field experts
We will increase training and presentation opportunities and further develop field–academia collaboration programs to foster the next generation of scientific leaders.
Fisheries science remains essential to food security, marine conservation, and sustainable economic growth.

In 2026, KOSFAS will continue working with all members to build a sustainable future for our fisheries.
